‘Ottawa’ And They Commuted Happily Ever After
An OC Transpo bus displaying a ‘Just Married’ sign caught the attention of public transit users, jolting them out of their usual back-to-work, back-to-school commute on Monday morning.
“A ‘Just Married’ sign?,’” said a friendly but equally surprised OC Transpo spokeswoman who answered the media line.
“Were congratulations in order, had the sign been hacked or was it an employee gone rogue,” the Sun wanted to know.
As it turns out, it was none of the above.
“No, the bus operator was not married this weekend,” said Pat Scrimgeour, an assistant general manager at Transpo
Upon finishing the morning route, the bus driver pulled into the Tunney’s Pasture station and turned off the standard sign to show that the bus was no longer in service.
While most buses that are not in service will display a sign that says ‘On-track 2018’ — a nod to the progress being made on the construction of the light rail transit line — drivers do have other options.
