‘Ottawa’ O-train Frequency Not as Promised
OC Transpo has shaved about one minute off the train frequencies on the O-Train Trillium Line, but it’s still not achieving the times promised to council when it originally approved the $60-million expansion project.
According to the transit department, the Trillium Line now has a frequency between 11 minutes and 11 minutes and 15 seconds, depending on the number of passengers using the service.
Cutting the time down even more doesn’t appear likely under the current design.
“Further technical changes aimed at creating a more frequent service on the Trillium Line are being reviewed as part of Stage 2 of the city’s LRT plan,” Transpo assistant GM Troy Charter said.
Transpo has acknowledged the original pledge to have trains come every eight minutes was too ambitious and unlikely to happen because of the configuration of passing tracks.
