‘Ottawa’ Section of Rideau Street Closed Again Due to Sinkhole
While no vehicles have been swallowed this time, Ottawa police are taking extra precautions by closing part of Rideau Street due to another sinkhole that has opened up.
Police say the sinkhole is “small” but they were not able to give an approximate size of the opening. Rideau Street is closed between Sussex Drive and Dalhousie Street as city crews assess the hole.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area and transit users are being told buses that use Rideau Street are being detoured.
The City of Ottawa is investigating.
The small sinkhole comes less than three months after a massive sinkhole gobbled up a parked van on June 8 and shut down the same section of Rideau Street for nearly three weeks.
