‘Ottawa’ Stormy Weather Elsewhere Causes Numerous Delays at Ottawa Airport
Unstable wintry weather Thursday that brought snow squalls and storms across the U.S. Midwest, southern Ontario, in the Maritimes and Newfoundland and in the U.S. Northeast was causing numerous delays at Ottawa airport.
While conditions in the national capital were clear and cold, with no precipitation expected until midday Friday, more than 40 per cent of departures — particularly to the U.S. East Coast — were delayed by as much as four hours.
And even flights to Western Canada, and overseas flights to London, were set back, though the delays were generally shorter.
Several flights to Toronto, which was hit with snow squalls late in the day and into the early evening, were cancelled altogether.
