‘Ottawa’ Tickets to the Massive Parliament Hill 1,000-seat Dinner go on Sale Friday
Tickets to the “greatest dinner party Ottawa has ever seen” will go on sale at noon on Friday — and they won’t come cheap.
Canada’s Table is expected to host 1,000 diners for an open-air feast in front of Parliament Hill on Aug. 27, beginning at 6 p.m.
The Ottawa 2017 signature event will bring together star restaurateur Stephen Beckta and chef Mike Moffatt of Beckta, Play Food & Wine and Gezellig restaurants, along with Thyme & Again Catering’s Sheila Whyte to host a four-course dinner on Wellington Street, in front of Parliament.
The event will feature 10 top local chefs, paired with 10 visiting top chefs from across Canada, to serve the dinner at a 305-metre table that seats 1,000. Proceeds from the non-profit event will be used to support local and national food security causes.
Beckta had previously floated the idea of hosting a large banquet that reflects Canadian dishes through the ages, as well as include historic selections from the parliamentary dining room.
Tickets are $175, which includes the dinner with wine pairings.
