‘Ottawa’ Pedestrian Pinned Beneath Car in Market, Seriously Injured

Ottawa paramedics called to the ByWard Market on Sunday found police attempting to free a man who was pinned under a vehicle.
Ottawa Paramedic Service said in a release that the 49-year-old man was attempting to cross Cumberland Street, between York Street and George Street around 5:30 p.m. when he was struck by the vehicle and pinned beneath it.
Police, paramedics and bystanders freed the man, who was stabilized at the scene and then taken to hospital. Paramedics reported that he was in serious but stable condition upon arrival at the trauma centre.
Further details were not released, but police were continuing to investigate.
