‘Ottawa’ Firefighters Battle Blaze at Borden Street Home
It took Ottawa firefighters nearly an hour to get a blaze under control at a two-storey home on Borden Street near Crystal Bay in the city’s west end on Sunday.
Fire services said residents of the home called 911 at 9:16 p.m. to report a chimney fire, then called back saying smoke and flames were inside the house. Crews arriving at the scene said the fire had reached the roof and eaves.
The fire was declared under control at 10:13 p.m.
The Salvation Army and Red Cross were responding to support a man and woman who will be displaced.
Ottawa fire said it had not determined a cause of the blaze. No damage estimate was available.
