‘Ottawa’ Capital Facts: Ottawa’s single-season Snowfall Record
n celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, the Citizen is rolling out one fact each day for 150 days until July 1, highlighting the odd, the fascinating and the important bits of Ottawa history you might not know about.
Ottawa’s single-season record snowfall was 441.1 cm, set over the course of the winter of 1970-71. That’s enough snow to bury three Mazda 3s stacked on top of one another.
