‘Ottawa’ Ottawa Man Charged with Child Porn offences after Skype Tip
An Ottawa man faces child pornography charges after officials from Skype submitted reports about suspicious activity at a local IP address.
The National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children’s tip line received the report from Skype and forwarded it to the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre, which shared it with the Ottawa police last November.
The police subsequently obtained a court order that revealed the name of the individual connected to the IP address. The police service’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit on Tuesday executed a search warrant, and found several digital devices with images of child sexual abuse.
Chad Waite, 23, of Ottawa, has been charged with making child pornography available, accessing child pornography and two counts of possessing child pornography.
