‘Ottawa’ Capital Facts: Ottawa Police Officers Touch Down in Iqaluit
In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, the Citizen is rolling out one fact each day for 150 days until July 1, highlighting the odd, the fascinating and the important bits of Ottawa history you might not know about.
Ottawa was the first municipality to participate in a police exchange program with the RCMP in Nunavut. Ottawa police officers Brad Hampson and Louise Lafleur touched down in Iqaluit in March 2008 before taking up their posts in Clyde River and Hall Beach, respectively.
