‘Ottawa’ Man Shot in Centrepointe, One of Two Shooting Calls Overnight
The Ottawa police guns and gangs unit is investigating after a man was shot and wounded at a house on Kentsdale Drive Thursday night in the city’s Centrepointe neighbourhood.
Police were called to the house at 20 Kentsdale at about 6:50 p.m. and quickly cordoned off the street in the affluent neighbourhood.
Officers with flashlights could be seen scouring the street outside the house, with its two-car garage.
Police had conflicting information about whether the shooting occurred inside or outside the house, said Sgt. Doug Edgar.
“At this point, the investigation is active so there’s not much more I can say,” Edgar said at the scene.
Police sources said the man was shot in the stomach.
Neighbours said a couple lived in the house with their two sons and a daughter.
The Centrepointe call was one of two shooting calls for police overnight.
Officers were called to a scene following reports of shots fired near a residence on Kilbourne Avenue in the Alta Vista district at around 1 a.m.
No one was apparently shot in the incident, but police said four people were arrested at the scene.
Police were also told of a car speeding away a investigators located the vehicle shortly afterwards on Bank Street. Three more people were arrested at that scene.
A brief investigation by police led to the discovery of the vehicle a short while later. Three more people were arrested after the vehicle’s discovery.
Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
