‘Ottawa’ Police Fire Shots at Vehicle During Domestic Dispute at Gracefield
A 39-year-old man is facing a charge of assault with a weapon after driving his vehicle towards Sûreté du Québec officers during a domestic dispute at a residence in Gracefield.
The SQ was called Tuesday morning about a family dispute at a residence on Highway 105 in Gracefield, about 95 kilometres north of Ottawa.
The first officers on the scene drove a woman from the residence to safety.
Police established a security perimeter was put in place in front of the residence.
According to the SQ, the suspect, who can’t be named because he has yet to appear in court, was agitated and kept coming in and out of the house.
After a quick verbal exchange with the police, the man walked out of the house wearing a motorcycle helmet and carrying a baseball bat.
He went into his car parked in his driveway and drove it towards the police officers who opened fire onto the vehicle, trying to slow it down.
The man left his vehicle and ran towards the forest. He came back shortly after and surrendered to police.
The road was shut down until 2:10 p.m.
The man is to appear in Maniwaki’s court of justice on Wednesday.
