Two local builders have been named finalists in Tarion’s 2016 Homeowners’ Choice Awards.

Domicile was nominated in the high-rise category and Tamarack Development Corporation was nominated in the large volume category.

The awards, formerly known as the Tarion Awards of Excellence, give new homebuyers in the province the power to recognize builders for excellence in customer service.

Tarion is a private, not-for-profit corporation that administers the Ontario New Home Warranties Plan Act. Its president and CEO, Howard Bogach, said homebuyers are having an increasing impact on the new home-buying experience based on the decisions they make.

“The Homeowners’ Choice Awards reflects the importance of their opinions and champions excellence in customer service,” he said in a statement.

Nominees were selected based on a survey sent to more than 56,000 Ontario homeowners who took possession of a new home in the 12 months ending Sept. 30, 2015. The survey had a 21 per cent response rate.

Winners will be announced at a luncheon in Toronto on April 28.
