Backlash doesn’t faze Anthony Johnson following gym blowup
Anthony Johnson insists that an incident this month that saw the UFC order him to participate in counseling is in the past.
A couple weeks ago, Johnson posted a rant on Facebook about a confrontation with a woman at his gym in which he threw her yoga mat after she confronted him about lifting weights close to where she was stretching.
While disturbing, the incident itself likely would have gone completely unnoticed if Johnson hadn’t posted about it for the world to see.
The UFC enlisted the services of a third-party law firm to investigate the matter, and while the organization released a sternly worded statement expressing its disappointment in Johnson and ordered him to undergo counselling, the light-heavyweight contender wasn’t pulled from Saturday’s UFC 191 card and will fight Jimi Manuwa in the third-to-last fight of the night.
Johnson apologized to the woman and by all accounts the issue between the two of them is in the past, which is where Johnson would like to leave the entire incident despite cries of protest from some circles.
