Ottawa keen for 2017 Grey Cup
While it’s confirmed Toronto will get the 2016 Grey Cup, the Ottawa RedBlacks have plenty of work ahead before they get a CFL thumbs-up for the 2017 game.
It seems like the odds are tilted in Ottawa’s favour, but it’s not a done deal.
While it hasn’t been announced officially, Toronto has locked up the 2016 game. Toronto hosted the 2012 Grey Cup — when the Argos beat the Calgary Stampeders 35-22, in front of 53,208 fans at Rogers Centre. The home of the Blue Jays might be the only stadium capable of hosting the 2016 game in a season in which the Argos will move to BMO Field.
The RedBlacks are taking nothing for granted as they push ahead. It makes plenty of sense that the CFL gives the game to Ottawa, the capital city of Canada which will be celebrating its 150th birthday party that year. And it’s almost certain to happen, but …
