Murder accused a ‘good kid’: Grandmother
The grandmother of one of two young men charged with murder in the weekend stabbing death of a 17-year-old insisted Monday her grandson is “not capable of doing this type of stuff,” and said he’s “had a good heart for life.”
The grandmother, who asked not to be named, said Keanu Croteau lives with her.
She spoke to the Sun as Croteau, 18, and 25-year-old Mohamed Hamade were to appear in court on charges of second-degree murder in the stabbing death of Issaiah Clachar.
Croteau’s mother was seen sobbing outside the courtroom in which her son would soon appear, being comforted by family members.
His family said Croteau graduated from high school last year and was planning on attending Algonquin College to study architecture. His grandmother said he rarely left the house other than to work.
“He wouldn’t hurt an animal, he wouldn’t hurt people, so I don’t know,” the grandmother said. “He’s a good kid, this is something totally out of character.
