Can Kam Chancellor bring boom back to Seahawks’ defence?
Kam Chancellor has ended his holdout. He’s back with the Seattle Seahawks.
Coaches, teammates and fans just hope he has brought the Boom back with him. The shockingly porous Seahawks defence needs it.
Arguably the NFL’s premier (and hardest hitting) strong safety, Chancellor on Wednesday ended his two-month holdout and returned to the team. He lost $536,000 in salary for holding out, and considerably more if the club did not waive Chancellor’s no-show fines.
The Seahawks have had Chancellor parked on the reserve/did-not-report list, so whenever they add him to the active 53-man roster — likely imminently — they’ll have to drop someone.
Chancellor was allowed to practise immediately, thanks to a roster exemption.
Seattle, 0-2, plays its home opener Sunday against the winless Chicago Bears.
A fifth-round pick in head coach Pete Carroll’s first year in Seattle (2010), Chancellor earned second-team all-pro honours in 2013 and 2014.
