Ravens stun B-Sens 1-0
The Carleton Ravens fed off a big crowd in the tight confines of the school’s Ice House on Monday night, defending home ice and surprising the AHL’s Binghamton Senators 1-0.
The Ravens got some timely saves from goalie Patrick Killeen and managed to fend off the Ottawa Senators’ minor league affiliate in a penalty-filled third period, including a Ravens penalty with less than four minutes to go.
Brent Norris scored the game’s only goal early in the first period for the Ravens, who withstood a quick Binghamton rush and some big hits early, showing from the opening minutes it would be an evenly-matched game.
Chris Driedger picked up the loss in goal for the Senators.
Binghamton’s roster got a boost earlier Monday when the NHL club announced the cutting of 21 players, many of whom suited up in Monday’s game.
