RedBlacks’ O-line accepts share of blame
It’s not like the stats, in this case, lie. While there’s plenty of blame to pass around, the Ottawa RedBlacks offensive line wasn’t at its best Saturday in a 35-26 loss to the Toronto Argos.
The Argos had four sacks and a few other hurries of Ottawa quarterback Henry Burris. Plus, RedBlacks running back Jeremiah Johnson had just 32 yards rushing on nine carries. When Johnson did have the ball in his hands, it wasn’t as if he was finding much daylight. There was a congestion of bodies, with the Argos plugging up the holes.
“We all know we could have played better,” said RedBlacks offensive line coach Bryan Chiu. “We take a lot of pride in protecting Henry and we gave up a few sacks. We also took some costly penalties at crucial times. And when we run the ball second-and-short, we expect to gain yards; it’s not acceptable to come up short.”
