Ottawa Senators Andrew Hammond out 2 weeks with injured groin
The Senators will start the season without The Hamburglar.
Senators GM Bryan Murray told reporters Friday morning goalie Andrew Hammond is out “at least two weeks” with a groin injury he suffered in practice Thursday.
This means Matt O’Connor, signed as an unrestricted free agent in May, will start the season in Ottawa.
The news doesn’t stop there, though, winger Colin Greening is being placed on waivers at noon and assigned to Binghamton.
Losing Hammond is a big hit.
“It’s not a tear or anything, but it’s a pull and we have to be careful with it,” said Murray.
As for Greening, the Senators are out of options. They told his agent they’d help him with a trade if he could find a team.
