‘Ottawa’ Brooke Henderson Scores a Hole-in-One at KPMG Women’s PGA Championship
Frankly, it didn’t look like a hole-in-one in the air.
Brooke Henderson’s slightly pulled 7-iron from 155 yards on the par-3 13th hole at Sahalee Country Club got a lot better once it hit the ground during the first round of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship on Thursday.
The ball bounded right off the fringe and rolled into the hole for an ace, propelling the 18-year-old to a four-under-par 67 and the first-round lead as the afternoon draw was getting onto the course at the LPGA Tour’s second major of the year.
The crowd erupted and there were some awkward attempts at high fives. There was a hug with sister Brittany, her caddie, who will get the 2016 Kia K900 she won for the ace. Henderson pulled the ball out of the hole, gave it a kiss and waved it to the crowd.
