‘Ottawa’ Condon Shuts Out Capitals for Big Sens Win
The Ottawa Senators were tested by the best and came out on top.
The Senators served notice they’re a force to be reckoned with after they scored a 3-0 victory over the top-ranked Washington Capitals in front of 16,683 fans on Tuesday night at the Canadian Tire Centre.
While the night started with a poignant ceremony to place former GM/coach Bryan Murray in the newly formed Ring of Honour, the Senators gave their senior advisor of hockey operations the best gift he could get by delivering the two points on the strength of Mike Condon’s fourth shutout of the season.
Not only did the Senators have Washington captain Alex Ovechkin and the rest of the Caps totally frustrated as Condon made 31 stops in his 14th straight start, Zack Smith, Bobby Ryan and Chris Kelly did the scoring on goalie Philipp Grubauer as Ottawa scored its fourth win in its past five games.
