‘Ottawa’ Another Day, Another Multimillion-dollar Gift from B.C. Couple
Remember those nice people who gave an Ottawa museum $4 million on Thursday? They’re at it again.
With the ink barely dry on their cheque to the Canadian Museum of Nature, Ross and Trisha Beaty went down the road to Queen’s University in Kingston and handed over $5 million more on Friday morning.
The Beaty Water Research Centre will bring together an interdisciplinary team to study water. A key focus will be on safe drinking water from small, untreated systems, or untreated urban water or rural domestic wells.
Queen’s says in an announcement that “in Canada, the research directly impacts those living in vulnerable remote communities, including Indigenous Peoples.”
The Beatys are a Vancouver family, but two of their children attended Queen’s.
Ross Beaty is a geologist and resource entrepreneur.
