Roughriders should purge some parts, stockpile draft picks
The CFL trade deadline will likely be the same old boring story on Wednesday.
The reason why this year’s deadline shouldn’t be the same old, same old, though, is because there’s a team that has already been eliminated from playoff contention and could release a few parts without it hurting it in the long run. The Saskatchewan Roughriders are officially out of the running for the 2015 post-season thanks to their 2-13 record, so interim GM Jeremy O’Day should be wheeling and dealing, firing rental players in all directions.
The one piece they most definitely should move before the deadline is quarterback Kevin Glenn, who could help one team in particular. The Montreal Alouettes have used six quarterbacks this season, and their pivot situation couldn’t be more of a mess right now.
