‘Ottawa’ New Historical Sexual Assault Charges Laid Against Rockport Man
Police have laid new charges against a Rockport, Ont., man arrested last month in connection with alleged sexual assaults that took place between the late 1960s and 1990.
The 72-year-old man was charged with six further offences on April 28 after new allegations were made, said the Leeds County OPP.
The new charges include:
- Two counts of sexual assault.
- Two counts of indecent assault on a male.
- Two counts of gross indecency.
The new charges pertain to historical sexual offences that allegedly happened between the late 1960s and 2000, police said.
The man was already facing eight charges, bringing the total count now to 14.
He was released from custody on a promise to appear in Brockville, Ont., court on June 10.
Anyone with information is asked to call the OPP’s provincial communication centre at 1-888-310-1122, and ask to have a member of the investigative team of the Leeds County Crime Unit contact them. Information received will be handled confidentially, the OPP said.
Rockport is about 140 km south of Ottawa, between Brockville and Kingston, Ont.
