Ian White’s skills as a life coach might even be more important as his talents as a “bomber” at the Ottawa Sun Scramble.

White and Bill Young — known respectively on the Slammer Tour as “Number 7” (because he’s a Leafs fan and that’s the jersey Ian White the defenceman wore for Toronto) and “Newfie” — were 100% on their game Wednesday at Le Sorcier. They fired a 5-under 66 to grab a share of the first round lead in the GolfTEC B division.
Also posting 66s were Rick Theberge and Darren Shultz, and John Tattersall and Mike Thibault, while four other teams were 67 and five more at 68.
