Patient ‘treated like garbage’ by government health agency
Except for attending appointments with doctors and specialists, Paul Borlack has not been out of his house in an entire year.
The 57-year-old Toronto man has a litany of medical issues: Ulcers on both feet, amputated toes, crumbling bones in his right foot, water retention in both legs and water blisters on both shins, diabetes, failing kidneys and a heart problem.
When I visited his north Toronto home last week, he could barely shuffle to the kitchen table from his downstairs bedroom.
He’s been on an intravenous pump at least 10 times in the past five years for recurring infections.
