Tories may regret shutting out potential Ottawa candidates
With several neck-and-neck races in the Ottawa area, you have to wonder whether the Tories and Pierre Poilievre might be second-guessing the heavy-handed decision to shut out some well-known potential candidates.
A recent poll showed Poilievre’s pick in Nepean — his former assistant, Andy Wang — is running a close second to Liberal candidate Chandra Arya.
And in Kanata-Carleton, where former Tory cabinet minister Gord O’Connor long reigned supreme, there’s another nice little battle going on with the Liberals in the lead.
A poll conducted for Postmedia on Oct. 4 shows Nepean and Kanata-Carleton — both newly formed ridings “going down to the wire,” according to Mainstreet pollster Quito Maggi.
