Gatineau attempted murder suspect now accused of assaulting Good Samaritan
A 49-year-old man accused of attacking a teenage girl on a Gatineau trail behind her school is now also accused of assaulting and threatening the Good Samaritan who stopped him.

Gatineau police credit a passerby with detaining the suspect in a citizen’s arrest after the girl was attacked on Tuesday afternoon.
The girl, a student at École secondaire de l’Île, was taken to hospital with serious injuries but her condition was not considered life-threatening, police said at the time. The suspect was also taken to hospital with injuries.
On Wednesday, the suspect was charged with attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a weapon and two counts of breaching conditions.
On Friday, police announced that the suspect was also charged with assaulting and uttering death threats against the Good Samaritan.
The suspect was staying at the Gîte Ami emergency shelter, located near the scene of the attack, before he was arrested.
